Heat-Treatment & ISPM#15

Berry Industrial Group, Inc. provides the International Standards For Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15), developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), that directly addresses the need to treat wood materials for export. These measures were put in place to avoid the transport and spread of insects and disease to the different ecosystems of our trade partners. ISPM 15 pertains to all wood packaging material (pallets, crates, dunnage, etc.); it requires that the wood be debarked, heat treated or fumigated with methyl bromide, and then stamped or branded with a mark of compliance. The lumber used in all pallets that are stamped with heat treatment stamps and government issued IPPC numbers have been heat treated to a core temperature of 56 degrees Celsius for a minimum of 30 minutes. Below is a list of participating countries as of April 2013.
